The active volcanoes on the Island of Hawai'i remind us of
the continuum and energy of nature, spirit and life - ever-changing, each day
re-born. It is here on the Kohala Coast - encircled like a lei by five majestic
and powerful lava mountains - that you will find a retreat for your soul.
Hawai'i's "healing island" is indeed a haven to rejuvenate, restore
and renew.

DINING
Brown's
Beach House
Reminiscent of days gone by - when a weekend retreat meant spending
it at the Brown's Beach House at Kalahuipua'a - relaxing, talking story,
and appreciating true Hawaiian hospitality. The ambience of this
beachside restaurant provides the perfect setting for a relaxing
oceanside meal.
The cuisine at the Brown's Beach House is as radiant as
the luminous sunsets on the Kohala Coast horizon - Hawai'i regional with
a California twist. Selections will include crisp salads, tasty pupu
(appetizer) selections, grilled fish and rotisserie specials and
exciting desserts. In the evenings, listen as the melodic sounds of a
Hawaiian duo create a symphony with the ocean waves. The graceful hands
and warm smile of a solo hula dancer entice the keiki (children) to join
her in a hula - a heartwarming memory for years to come!
The Brown's Beach House is a tribute to Francis H. I'i Brown, his nephew
Kenneth Brown and the rest of the Brown 'ohana. Through their vision,
Mauna Lani Resort has maintained a sense of place in an area rich in
culture, history and hospitality.

Grill: The
island's only serious steak restaurant. The Grill embraces the spirit of
the islands. The finest crystals cast dancing lights against the warmth of

a clear Kohala sky. The overall atmosphere is inviting – the service is
impeccable while at the same time is relaxed and sincere.
We are proud to offer an entree selection of dry-aged, corn-fed, prime
beef flown in from the midwest. The process of dry-aging takes a minimum
of 21 days in a temperature, air-flow and humidity controlled environment
which guarantees a superior product and beef that has been compared to the
finest wine. All of our steaks are rubbed with Hawaiian sea salt, extra
virgin olive oil, and a home-made blend of organic fresh herbs and roasted
garlic before being broiled to order.
The menu also features a few specials from the sea and our daily selection
of locally-grown Kamuela Pride farm-raised beef.

Romance & Weddings

There
is perhaps no more magical a time than those gold tinged moments preceding a
Hawaiian sunset. Even rarer still are the sunsets at The Orchid at Mauna Lani.
Sunsets that do more than just stir the romantic heart, but sunsets that etch
eternal memories.
As blues skies darken as the daily torch lighting ceremony begins at the sound
of the conch shell. A distant slack key guitar melody dances around palm
fronds rustling in the warm trade winds. The stars spread out before you like
diamonds on an endless expanse of black velvet. Take a deep breath as you
realize that tomorrow will be perfect and that this is, indeed, the best
decision you ever made.
A wedding and honeymoon at The Orchid. A celebration of the senses and a
shared experience that you will reflect on for decades to come. The
spectacular natural settings are matched only by your opportunities to explore
them. From days at our "Spa Without Walls" to butler-serviced
dinners for two on the beachfront, your vision of romance awaits.
Of course, contrary to popular belief, location isn’t everything. Not only
will you be surrounded with incomparable beauty, but with incomparable service
as well. Pampering is the order of the day, and our attentive staff awaits
your beck and call.
Whatever the event - a private wedding ceremony, a surprise birthday, or an
unforgettable anniversary celebration - The Orchid will not disappoint.
